Amherst College to celebrate poet Richard Wilbur’s 90th birthday with readings by students and faculty

AMHERST, Mass.—In celebration of his 90th birthday, Richard Wilbur, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and former U.S. Poet Laureate who holds the same teaching position at Amherst College that Robert Frost once did, will be honored with a reading of his poems and translations on Wednesday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m., at Converse Hall’s Cole Assembly Room (his actual birthday is on March 1).

AMHERST, Mass.—On Friday, April 1—five years after the building officially opened—Amherst College will host a dedication and naming ceremony for the Beneski Earth Sciences Building and Beneski Museum of Natural History, which house the college’s geology department and natural history museum.

AMHERST, Mass.—Ashby resident John Carter, chief of police at Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., has been elected director-at-large for the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). Carter will serve a term of three years starting this June.
