Each year, Amherst’s Annual Fund provides vital support to the College’s operating budget. Thanks to the generous support of alumni, parents and friends, the Annual Fund raised $10.1 million during the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2015.
The Annual Fund—started in 1906—allows the College to fund immediate priorities year after year: scholarships for exceptional students, resources for our faculty and for student research, and support for campus preservation and upkeep.
By the Numbers:
11,028 alumni, parents and friends made gifts
52.5% alumni participation
All gifts, of all amounts, help Amherst students and faculty. Read one student’s thank-you letter below.
Hi, my name is Tomo, the bespectacled guy standing in the middle of the picture. I am grinning widely because I am really grateful for your generosity that has enabled students, not only across America, but also from the whole world, to enjoy the Amherst experience.
I come from Indonesia, halfway across the globe from Massachusetts. Here, I have taken rewarding seminar classes, sledded down memorial hill during the snowy winters, engaged in the campus community and, most importantly, made friends and relationships that I will cherish throughout my life.
I could never thank you enough for your continued support and contributions to Amherst, without which I would never have had the opportunity to be here in the first place.
Therefore, on behalf of all of us at Amherst, let me say it one more time: Thank you.
