Office of Communications
Patricia Allen, Commencement director, and the staff in the Office of Communications coordinate the annual Commencement activities. Please contact Patricia Allen at 413/542-8094 or email@example.com if you have questions about Commencement. The Office of Communications is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (summer, 8-4), Monday–Friday.
On-Campus and Off-Campus Lodging
Until May 1, Amherst offers dormitory housing at a nominal fee to families of graduating seniors from 1 p.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Sunday. Families and graduating students will receive on-campus housing information in the summer and in the fall with electronic registration to open on December 1. We encourage families to register electronically at the above link. Registrations must be accompanied by credit card payment. Refunds can be made up to and including Monday, May 15. We are unable to refund payments after May 15. If there are questions, please call Paula Mieczkowski at 413/542-8269.
Please note that reservations will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We do our best to meet all requests, but housing is limited and lodging cannot be guaranteed. Room keys can be picked up at Commencement Headquarters, and towels, bed linen and pillows are provided. The deadline for on-campus housing registration is May 1.
Please note, too, that all campus housing (including student housing) must be vacated by 5 p.m. Sunday, so that college staff can prepare the rooms for Alumni Holiday and Reunion Weekend. Families who need housing before Friday night, as well as families (and students) who need housing beyond 5 p.m. Sunday, are urged to make arrangements with friends off campus or with local hotels as soon as possible, as local lodging fills quickly.
Off-campus lodging can be procured at hotels in Hadley, Northampton, Chicopee, South Deerfield and Holyoke, as well as other locations in Western Massachusetts using the link above.
Graduation Announcements and Diploma Frames
Herff Jones has been authorized to offer personalized graduation announcements. Their family mailing occurs in March. They offer personalized announcements and frames for diplomas. Additional information can be found at www.herffjones.com/graduation and www.framingsuccess.com.
Amherst College provides each graduating senior with a few unpersonalized invitations. These packets are distributed to the students when graduating seniors pick up their caps and gowns. They are also available for download.
