Museums and Exhibitions
Archives & Special Collections located in the Robert Frost Library will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Mead Art Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Eli Marsh Gallery in 105 Fayerweather Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The Beneski Museum of Natural History will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Emily Dickinson Museum—including the home of poet Emily Dickinson, located in town at 280 Main St., and the home of her brother Austin, located next door—is open for guided tours on Friday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last tour begins at 3:30 p.m. There is an admission fee. The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is within driving distance, in south Amherst.
The Wilder Observatory on Snell Street is open to all, starting at 9 p.m. Saturday. See (if they're in the sky at the time) the moon, planets, asteroids, comets, multiple stars, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies and more through the large, world-class refractor telescope. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and their families, as well as, friends, are welcome. This program is provided in partnership with the Astronomy Association and facilitated by astronomy enthusiast Tom Whitney of Amherst.
Recreational Facilities and Trails
Visitors may play tennis on the college courts throughout Commencement Weekend.
Amherst Golf Club, south of the campus on South Pleasant Street (Route 116), will be open to the public on Friday.
The Amherst College Wildlife Sanctuary includes approximately 500 acres in a diverse collection of open fields (both active and unmanaged), wetlands, flood plain woods, river, upland woods, plantation pines and ponds. Pick up a map at Commencement Headquarters in Alumni House.
