The Headless Woman (Lucrecia Martel, Argentina, 2008)
7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, Pruyne Lecture Hall
Lucrecia Martel is Latin America’s most important contemporary filmmaker, and "The Headless Woman" is arguably her best film. A suspenseful exploration of the culture of impunity in Argentina, the film is also part of a sustained effort by its director to redefine the language of cinema by privileging sound over sight, and affect over narrative, in order to explore the contradictions of female desire in a patriarchal world.
The film will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles.
