Advancement

new growth on college row

Advancement encompasses Alumni and Parent Programs (APP), the Annual Fund, Leadership Giving, Gift Planning, Foundation and Corporate Relations, Advancement Operations, and the Career Center. We work to advance the Amherst College mission, help to raise awareness of the College and its goals, and encourage generosity in Amherst’s external constituencies. We accomplish this by nurturing long-term and mutually-enriching relationships with and among constituents, including alumni, families and friends.

The College just completed Lives of Consequence, A Campaign for Amherst. This comprehensive campaign increased financial aid, broadened access for students, supported the faculty through endowed professorships and research and teaching support, which help foster modern and interdisciplinary approaches in the classroom. Lives of Consequence has allowed the College to upgrade existing facilities and build new ones, strengthening the connection between living and learning.

As part of this effort, Alumni and Parent Programs is spearheading Amherst Connects, a program to connect alumni to each other, students and to the College.  Amherst fosters alumni relationships, creating more and better opportunities for student research, internships, and service.
