Retrieving stacked address lines in Excel

In your ARI sandbox, we provide mailing addresses that can be stacked into a single cell in Excel. That is, instead of an address being spread across many columns, this method will wrap the entire address within a single cell.

 These are:

  • MailIndivLines in Person_Addrs
  • MailJointLines in Person_Joint (shows couple home for members of joint-mail couples, otherwise individual mailing address)

When you run an Access query in which you have included one of these fields, the address lines will not wrap. They will wrap after you push them to Excel, however, when you take these steps:

  1. Right click on the column heading (A, B, etc.). This will select the whole column and will also present a quick menu
  2. From the quick menu, choose Format Cells > Alignment > Wrap text (check box).
