Foundation and Corporate Relations
Foundation and Corporate Relations (FCR) works to support the College's Advancement effort. FCR is responsible primarily for seeking major grants from national foundations and corporations in support of broad institutional programs and initiatives. Some examples of such projects might include a curriculum development initiative, the construction or renovation of a campus building, programs serving the needs of Amherst students or faculty, or the purchase of major equipment to enhance teaching and research at the College.
FCR work collaboratively with the Dean of the Faculty's Office to assist faculty seeking grants in support their research. The group's Web site provides links to comprehensive funding opportunity databases, to some of the most commonly sought funding agencies and grant competitions, and advice on proposal writing, as well as information about the College's policies concerning external grant applications. Foundation and Corporate Relations staff also provide constructive comments on draft grant proposals given a reasonable amount of notice, and offer advice on putting together proposed project budgets.
