Amherst College Police

Dorm Talks

Officers conduct annual dorm talks in every residential hall at the start of the Fall semester. This is an opportunity to familiarize new students with the Campus Police Department and to share new information and answer questions with the returning students. During the dorm talks, we discuss relevant college and town policies and procedures, share crime prevention and general safety information and raise awareness about the other services and resources that are offered through Campus Police. During the academic year we return to the dorms at the request of the residents or the Residential Counselors to discuss specific issues that are relevant to the residents of that building or to address any incidents that may have arisen. Campus Police also conducts regular "Fatal Vision" Dorm Talks. This is an opportunity for students to learn about alcohol and impairment and to try various activities while wearing the Fatal Vision impairment goggles.

Anyone who is interested in setting up a dorm talk is encouraged to contact the Campus Police Department.
