Below are the names of each Working Group, its charge, and current members.

Communications
Manages all communications with our constituents and the greater Amherst community, including the council’s website, the publication and distribution of council minutes, and any related social media presence. This committee will also work with the Elections Working Group to assure that constituent lists are regularly evaluated and available to council members, to promote regular communication among staff on the Amherst campus.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Working Group

Gather information in relation to experiences and needs of staff from historically and presently marginalized/underrepresented communities and identities and regularly communicate staff needs with the Director of Inclusive Leadership.


Coordinate trainings/workshops for the council and working group in order to grow in our own understanding of issues related to DE&I, especially as they relate to our ability to serve our constituents.

Elections
Keeps constituent precinct membership lists up-to-date to ensure that staff across campus are appropriately represented on the Employee Council; seeks nominations of Council representatives; conducts elections of Council representatives annually or as needed; recommends staff members to serve on College committees, who are then voted on by the full Council; and promotes participation in the Council and College committees.

Events
Designs and implements Employee Council events like Open Houses and campus wide meetings.

Reviews the bylaws and recommend changes as appropriate, develops and conduct an orientation program for new Employee Council members, and creates and maintain a guide for Employee Council members.

Human Resources (HR) Working Group
Meets regularly with Human Resources, recommends changes in and offer feedback about benefits, personnel policies and all aspects of the employment environment, and advocates for staff and seek ideas from constituents. The HR working group will bring constituent concerns to Human Resources but will not negotiate individual grievances.
