Stephen M. Nigro, Controller
Stephen is responsible for maintaining the records and appropriate controls for income and expenditures of the College. This includes managing the recordkeeping for student accounts, payroll, investments and general accounting. Stephen manages the College's finances with other members of the College's administration.
Laurie M. Bouchard, Assistant Controller
Laurie works with Stephen Nigro on special projects and functions, and supervises the Controller's Office personnel with Stephen. Laurie is the College tax and compliance specialist. All questions on tax issues should be directed to her.
Jim is located at the front desk on the second floor of College Hall. Jim is the initial contact for the office, and will direct you to the appropriate department. Jim also assists in the payroll area, and distributes the Office mail.
Ann MacDonald , Data Assistant/Receptionist
Ann is located at the front desk of College Hall. Ann assists with Accounts Payable input. Ann is also responsible for the accounting of Lecture Funds.
Accounts Receivable, Student Accounts
Penny A. Parsons, Supervisor of Accounts Receivable/Administrator of Student Loans
Penny is the administrator of the Federal Perkins Loan Program and the institutional loan funds at Amherst College. She is the supervisor for the accounts receivable section.
Shelly A. Martin, Senior Bookkeeper, Student Accounts
Shelly handles student accounts receivable and is responsible for all student billing, along with refunds
to parents and students.
Megan Howes, Senior Bookkeeper, Accounts Receivable and Receipts
Megan handles general accounts receivables and also serves as cashier. She disburses and monitors
travel advances and petty cash for the College. Megan also works with student accounts.
Mari is responsible for the payroll systems for Amherst College and the Folger Shakespeare Library. Any questions about monthly payroll should be addressed to her.
Nancy Boyle, Junior Accountant/Payroll
Nancy is responsible for all regular weekly payroll. Questions regarding weekly payroll processing should be directed to Nancy.
Rachel Robinson , Senior Bookkeeper, Student Payroll
Rachel is responsible for all aspects of the student payroll. Questions regarding time sheets, earnings, and stop payments should be addressed to her. W-4 questions should be addressed to Student Employment in the Office of Financial Aid.
Financial Accounting: Accounts Payable, Grants and General Accounting
Gail M. Mitchell, Senior Accountant
Gail is responsible for the general accounting functions of the Comptroller's Office. She records all journal entries and manages functions relative to the General Ledger. Gail also monitors and reports on Faculty Travel, Entertainment and Research Grants.
Joanne Thornton, Junior Accountant, Grants and Budgets
Joanne is responsible for all Federal grants and external foundation or corporate grants received. Joanne also works with the Treasurer on departmental budgets
Investments and Gifts
Maureen Waskiewicz, Supervisor Endowment Accounting and Reporting
Maureen is the supervisor of the investment/gift area. She monitors and maintains all investment accounting for the College's endowment. Maureen will answer questions about restricted funds. Maureen supervises two employees who maintain and monitor gifts and investments.
Patricia Fydenkevez, Manager/Accountant for Gift and Pledge Processing
Pat is responsible for processing all gifts and pledges to the College. She supervises the Gift and Pledge Processing Assistant. Pat also works with and provides reports to Advancement Operations.
Linda J. Molongoski, Senior Accountant
Linda is responsible for the processing of investment activity and cash management. She is also the Folger contact person.
