The Controller's Office submits federal grant proposals and handles

post-award grant administration.  Amherst's Senior Research Administrator, Darlene Sliwa, is responsible for grant compliance, including approving expenditures, time and effort reporting, and financial reporting to funders. The Senior Research Administrator can assist with budget monitoring and planning and the interpretation of federal grant guidelines. The Controller's Office works closely with the Grants Office and Office of the Dean of the Faculty to support faculty and staff grantseekers.

The Controller is the Authorized Organizational Representative of the College and has the authority to sign proposals and accept grants on behalf of the College.  The Controller’s Office serves as the Sponsored Research Office for the purposes of submitting grant proposals and accepting awards.
