Amherst College’s Grants Office pursues foundation and government grants to support college programs and priorities. We also help faculty members find external funding to advance their research and teaching. In this work, we collaborate with the Office of the Provost and Dean of the Faculty and the Research Administrator in the Controller’s Office.

If you are looking for external funding opportunities, this website is a great place to start. The proposal toolkit can help your grantseeking at every stage. The GrantsLink form will help you plan your budget and avoid any obstacles to implementing your grant-funded project. We also have links to institutional data and boilerplate language for federal proposals.

What We Do

Is there a grant in your future? The Grants Office can increase the odds that the answer is yes. Grants Office staff can:

  • discuss project ideas
  • suggest funding sources or ways to identify funding sources
  • demonstrate how to use funding databases
  • help interpret application guidelines
  • advise you during the early stages of narrative and budget development
  • serve as educated general readers of proposal drafts
  • facilitate the internal review of proposals by the Dean of the Faculty and the Controller

Before Amherst College faculty and staff officially submit an external grant or fellowship application, most of their proposals must first pass through an online internal review. GrantsLink forms smooth the way to collecting any potential grant or fellowship award that will be administered by the College.
