Human Resources

Dear Colleague:

Amherst College is fortunate to have a dedicated and talented staff, and recognizes their noteworthy contributions to the College through the Employee Recognition Award.  Once again, we invite you to participate in the process of identifying colleagues who are doing exceptional work. Extraordinary contributions to the College may have been made through outstanding job performance, extraordinary committee service, exemplary collaboration, exceptional customer service or other activities above and beyond the employee’s job responsibilities.

Non-faculty employees who have completed a minimum of one year of service by the time of the nomination are eligible. All staff, faculty, and students are invited to submit nominations.  Last year’s recipients are ineligible for this year’s award.

The Recognition Committee will conduct the review process in a confidential manner in order to protect its integrity. Since nomination does not guarantee selection for recognition, you should consider keeping your nominations confidential.

Nominations can be submitted by mail, email or electronically at the Nomination Form page.  Paper nomination forms will be available at the Human Resources Office and in other central locations around campus (Dining Services, Custodial Services and Rental Housing). Completed paper forms must be sent to the Office of Human Resources or placed in the specially marked box at the Human Resources Office. All nominations must be received by Friday, May 8, 2015. Nominations received after this date cannot be considered.  Awardees will be recognized during the Employee Picnic on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

Do not hesitate to contact any member of the Recognition Committee with any questions you may have. The members of the Recognition Committee are Suzette Farnham, Irene Berwick,  Molly Mead, Stephen Nigro, Jeff Mathews, Sarah McAlpine, Gretchen Dwyer, and Charlie Thompson.

For additional information, please visit the Employee Recognition Event Procedure page.

We are looking forward to this end of the academic-year community celebration!

With best wishes,

María-Judith Rodriguez, Director of Human Resources
