How Emotional Intelligence Impacts Our Work Towards Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is at the heart of the work our Office of Inclusive Leadership has been doing to build our community capacity for understanding our identities and experiences as well as those of others. As we continue to dive into the complexity of understanding both another person's experiences as well as developing our capacity as allies in dismantling systemic oppression, it is imperative that we better understand how to apply some of the key components of EQ in order to positively and more effectively impact our community.
This session provides an overview of EQ competencies and their connection to creating a culture of engagement and inclusion, specifically focusing on the interpersonal realm.
After this session you will be able to:
- Define EQ and describe the specific EQ competencies.
- Make connections between these competencies, interpersonal engagement, and creating an inclusive work environment.
This session is designed for individuals who are curious about EQ and the role it plays in building a more inclusive community.
