The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance regarding leave time available to staff during a COVID-19 related period of quarantine and/or isolation.
As described in the mandatory quarantine and isolation periods, anyone who has been determined by contact tracing to have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must quarantine for 14 calendar days. If the suspected exposure happened while the staff member was working on campus, the staff member will continue to receive their regular pay based on their current work schedules for the duration of the quarantine period. Premium pay will not apply during the quarantine period, as it applies to worked hours only.
Individuals who must quarantine for other reasons (for example, because of the Massachusetts travel advisory or because they were potentially exposed off campus) may use any available leave time for the quarantine period.
As described in the mandatory quarantine and isolation periods, anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must isolate for approximately 10-20 days, as recommended by their primary care physician. A staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 will receive their regular pay based on their current work schedules for the duration of the isolation period. Premium pay will not apply during the isolation period, as it applies to worked hours only.
Additional Time Out of Work
Should a staff member need to remain out of work for more than the mandatory quarantine or isolation period, the staff member may use accrued leave time or other options, as described in the Options for Employees Unable to Work chart.
