Institutional Research

Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research provides the President, senior administrators, and faculty committees with planning information that is used to evaluate existing and proposed policies, programs and goals. Planning information includes historical and current information about Amherst, comparisons to peer institutions, and summaries of qualitative and quantitative feedback gathered from faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni.  The Office coordinates college reporting to the federal Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and provides data to selected publishers of college guides.

The director serves as the college’s Assembly Representative to the Consortium on Financing Higher Education (COFHE).  The office works cooperatively with a wide range of other college offices such as the Dean of the Faculty, Registrar, Dean of Students, Admission, Financial Aid, and Information Technology.
