Institutional Research Freshman Survey (CIRP)

Each year, hundreds of colleges and universities administer the CIRP Freshman Survey to entering students. The survey is part of a larger study conducted by the Higher Education Research Institute at the UCLA. Amherst has participated in the project since 1966.

The survey covers a wide range of student characteristics: parental income and education, ethnicity, and other demographic items; financial aid; secondary school achievement and activities; educational and career plans; and values, attitudes, beliefs, and self-concept.
