The Information Technology department seeks a current Amherst College senior or recent Amherst graduate for the position of Information Technology Fellow. This is a one-year position which may be renewed for a second year. The Fellow reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and will be responsible for facilitating special projects and general operations of the department. The fellowship offers an excellent opportunity to learn about managing an IT organization.
The job may include a significant amount of writing, assisting with data collection and analysis, communicating both within IT and with a broad spectrum of people in the College community, assisting in the preparation of reports, creating/managing web sites, identifying ways that social media might be employed, and bringing the student perspective to planning processes.
The Fellow will provide leadership for initiatives focused on student life, advise the CIO on issues such as student life and information technology, and will be the IT liaison to the AAS Technology Committee.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, and good organizational skills are necessary. The Fellow must be highly motivated and able to work independently. Strong collaborative skills are also required, as the Fellow may represent the department in projects across the campus. Candidates must have expertise with Excel and should have strong digital research skills.
