- Moodle sites are automatically made visible to students one week before the start of classes.
- They are automatically hidden six weeks after the semester ends.
- More info about site availability and visibility is available here.
- Note to faculty about hiding Moodle sites:
- If a Moodle site is still in development, or you are not planning to use Moodle, you can add a note to that effect to your Moodle site, and/or hide any sections or resources you don’t want to release yet.
- This is preferred over setting the entire site to be hidden, as students generally assume that a missing Moodle site indicates an issue with their registration (which then creates anxiety as well as support tickets to IT).
Change Course Visibility
- Go to your course's Moodle site.
- Click the "Course Management" gear icon in the top menu bar.
- Click "Edit Course Settings".
- In the top section of the screen, change the Visible setting to Show.
- Click on the Save Changes button on the bottom of the page.
