Introduction
The College supplies all students, faculty, and staff with a Google Apps for Education account, which uses you Amherst email address as your username. Many people also have personal Google accounts which can lead to questions about exactly which account you are in at any one moment. This article explains how to juggle multiple Google accounts.
Instructions
Google allows you to log into serveral accounts at once, and to easily swtich between them. These instructions start out by logging into a personal account first, but you can reverse the order if you wish.
- Go to www.google.com, click the Sign In button in the upper right, and log in with your personal Google account.
- Click on the account button--oftentimes its your Google profile picture--in the upper right, then click Add Account.
- Now, log in with your Amherst Google account.
- When logged into multiple accounts, you can click on the account button of the account your are currently in and then click on the other account to switch to it.
Best practice is to use your Amherst Google Apps for Education account for College-related business and sharing, and your personal GMail account for personal uses. Your Amherst Google Apps account is set up to make it simple for you to access and share items with other Amherst users.
