WiFi
The IT department supplies WiFi network access in all campus buildings and in several outdoor areas such as the first-year quad and Pratt Field.
We broadcast two SSIDs:
eduroam
The primary WiFi for Amherst College students, faculty, and staff, as well as for visitors from other institutions that support eduroam. The thing to remember in connecting to eduroam is that the username you use to login is your Amherst email address (username@amherst.edu).
AmherstGuest
As you'd expect, visitors to campus (except those from eduroam institutions) connect to AmherstGuest, where they can create an Amherst network login account. Less apparent but equally important, AmherstGuest is the network used by students, faculty, and staff to connect WiFi devices that can't connect to eduroam. Such devices must first be enrolled in Clearpass, a college system that acts as a gatekeeper for the network.
