AC Data Sends Duplicate Messages

On October 30, 2017 around 3:45pm, AC Data sent duplicate messages about the availability of online pay stubs. An issue we have since identified caused the system to send more than one message and we apologize for the inconvenience.

ICMP (ping) Access Control

Information Technology will be blocking all ICMP (ping) traffic inbound through the external firewall beginning at 7:00 a.m. on October 12, 2017.  This will have no effect on most, if not all, of the campus.  If, however, any individual or department is using ping for monitoring internal devices from external (Internet) sources, this WILL affect those operations.

If you anticipate or experience any issues relating to ICMP, please call the Help Desk.

The College's passive optical network or PON is in need of minor maintenance to correct an operational issue. Maintenance has been scheduled to occur between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. THE ENTIRE COLLEGE NETWORK WILL NOT BE AFFECTED. PON has been installed only in new and renovated campus buildings since 2012. Only those who work in or visit the following buildings may be affected by the outage:

  • 40 Dickinson St.
  • 79 South Pleasant St.
  • 271 South Pleasant St.
  • College Hall 
  • Greenway Dorms
  • Johnson Chapel
  • Powerhouse
  • Pratt Field Facilities Building and Press Box
  • Seligman Dorm (but not wireless)
  • Whalen House
  • Alumni Gym (2016-17 office renovations only)
  • Bunker 
  • Converse (basement only)
  • Frost (Barker Room and Center for Humanistic Inquiry only)
  • Keefe Campus Center (2nd floor, some 1st)
  • Merrill Apartments

IP Phone Service Back Online

UPDATE: Service was restored to the IP phone system at about 9:00AM.

The subset of the campus phone system that uses IP (internet protocol) phones is down, and people and offices with such phones cannot place or receive calls. We are working on the problem.

Colleague is Up and Running

UPDATE 2:  UPGRADE UNSUCCESSFUL.  REVERTED TO PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSION.  WILL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE AT A LATER DATE.  TO THOSE AFFECTED, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND WE ARE SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN RESTORING ACCESS TO THE NETWORK THIS MORNING.

UPDATE 1:  SOFTWARE UPGRADE TAKING SLIGHTLY LONGER THAN  ANTICIPATED.  COMPLETION ANTICIPATED BY 8:30.  APOLOGIES.

Wireless Update, Morning of December 28, 2016

The systems department will update wireless controllers and access points beginning at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28th. Expected duration is one hour. If you are using wireless on campus during that time your connection will drop a couple of times for a few minutes each.

SERVICE RESTORED. Partial Network Outage in Morrow Dorm

Parts of Morrow Dorm have lost Ethernet and wireless connectivity. We are working on the problem and expect a resolution soon.

A faulty switch was replaced and service restored by 8:30 AM

Scheduled Voicemail System Maintenance 11/9/16

Server operating system maintenance will be performed on the College's voicemail system between the hours of 6:00PM and midnight on November 9, 2016.  During this period, the voicemail system may be unavailable to callers and/or subscribers one or more times for short (5 to 10-minute) intervals, while the server reboots.  College phones will continue to work during this maintenance.
