There are no planned outages.
UPDATE: Service was restored to the IP phone system at about 9:00AM.
The subset of the campus phone system that uses IP (internet protocol) phones is down, and people and offices with such phones cannot place or receive calls. We are working on the problem.
UPDATA 9:20AM Colleague is again available.
We are experiencing problems with the Colleague server this morning. Please logout or stay logged out until you hear otherwise. Thank you for your patience as we determine what the issue is this morning.
UPDATE 2: UPGRADE UNSUCCESSFUL. REVERTED TO PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSION. WILL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE AT A LATER DATE. TO THOSE AFFECTED, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND WE ARE SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN RESTORING ACCESS TO THE NETWORK THIS MORNING.
UPDATE 1: SOFTWARE UPGRADE TAKING SLIGHTLY LONGER THAN ANTICIPATED. COMPLETION ANTICIPATED BY 8:30. APOLOGIES.
The College's passive optical network or PON is in need of a software upgrade to correct some operational issues. The upgrade has been scheduled to occur between the hours of 7:00 and 8:00 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. THE ENTIRE COLLEGE NETWORK WILL NOT BE AFFECTED. PON has been installed only in new and renovated campus buildings since 2012. Only those who work in or visit the following buildings may be affected by the upgrade:
- 40 Dickinson St.
- 79 South Pleasant St.
- 271 South Pleasant St.
- College Hall
- Greenway Dorms
- Johnson Chapel
- Pratt Field Facilities Building and Press Box
- Seligman Dorm (but not wireless)
- Whalen House
- Alumni Gym (2016 office renovations only)
- Converse (basement only)
- Frost (Barker Room and Center for Humanistic Inquiry only)
- Keefe Campus Center (2nd floor, some 1st)
- Merrill Apartments
- Service Building (basement only)
Two brief outages, lasting approx. one to two minutes each are required to address a software problem on the main web site. Other web services, such as AC Data and Moodle, will be unaffected.
The systems department will update wireless controllers and access points beginning at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28th. Expected duration is one hour. If you are using wireless on campus during that time your connection will drop a couple of times for a few minutes each.
Parts of Morrow Dorm have lost Ethernet and wireless connectivity. We are working on the problem and expect a resolution soon.
A faulty switch was replaced and service restored by 8:30 AM
Server operating system maintenance will be performed on the College's voicemail system between the hours of 6:00PM and midnight on November 9, 2016. During this period, the voicemail system may be unavailable to callers and/or subscribers one or more times for short (5 to 10-minute) intervals, while the server reboots. College phones will continue to work during this maintenance.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but an issue with our bill processing caused the phone bills for campus phones to be sent via email multiple times. Please rest assured that accounts will only be charged once.

Update: August 22 at 12:00 PM
The wireless network is available in McGuire Life Sciences Building.
Update: August 22 at 10:29 AM
Flooding in McGuire Life Sciences has knocked out all networking equipment. Replacing the equipment is expected to take a few days.
The Communications Infrastructure department is working to implement emergency wireless access today (Monday, August 22nd). They hope to have the building "lit" for wireless sometime this afternoon.
Ethernet (wired) access will not be available until the damaged equipment is replaced.
On Wednesday, August 17 at 4pm, we will perform a hardware upgrade that will affect access to select services. The upgrade window is expected to last an hour and will affect access to AC Data, Colleague, Colleague ODBC Connections, and WebUI. During the upgrade, we will increase the memory available on the system that provides the services listed with the goal of enhancing the performance of services hosted in the system.
