IT Service Outage History
An ongoing outage is affecting services offered by Amherst College Information Technology. We are working on the problem and appreciate your patience.
Networked printer are unavailable. We are working the problem.
We rebooted the printer server, which fixed the problem.
The Colleague production server will be shut down at noon on Friday, March 18th for a time critical database upgrade.
The following resources will be unavailable:
Collive ODBC connections
A scheduled maintenance on Monday morning will delay deposits to ACDollar$, from 9:30am to 10:00am. Although ACDollar$ will continue to accept and will process deposits through the GET system, deposits will not be reflected until the maintenance window ends. The maintenance is necessary to maintain the stability and security of ACDollar$ systems.

On Wednesday, March 2, from 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM, the college’s telephone system will be unavailable while software maintenance is being performed. The telephone numbers for the Amherst College Police may still be reached by dialing all seven digits from a cell phone or non-campus line. Business (413) 542-2291 and Emergency (413) 542-2111. In the unlikely event that those numbers fail, emergencies may be directed to the local 9-1-1 system.
Internet Connectivity Issues Resolved
February 29, 2016: 5:03pm - We detected an issue with our Internet connectivity and have addressed it. All resources on the Internet should have become accessible again as of 4:55pm.
Internet Connectivity Currently Unavailable
February 29, 2016: 4:14pm - We are currently experiencing issues with connectivity to resources on the Internet. We will post more information as we determine the cause and resolve the issue.
An upgrade to one of our printing systems will take place from 5:00pm to 5:30pm today. During the upgrade, printing to select printers and copiers will not be available. Please contact us at x2526, or send an email to AskIT@amherst.edu, if you have any questions.
Colleague is offline; we are working to bring it online.
At 7:30AM on Tuesday, December 15, software maintenance will be performed on our cable TV system that is expected to resolve the majority (if not all) of the channel dropping issues that we have been experiencing this fall. After the maintenance is performed, the system will go down for approximately five minutes. A few TVs may need to rescan channels, but the majority of TVs will not.

An upgrade to the OneCard card system will affect some card services on December 8, from 8:00am to 11:00pm. Although door access, Valenting Dining Hall, and Schwemm's Coffee House will continue to process transactions with the card, laundry and vending machines will only accept cash during the upgrade window.

Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM we will be upgrading our campus wireless controllers. This will result in a rolling interruption of wireless service in different parts of the campus as the various components restart. Any individual user will likely see an outage of 10-15 minutes at some point during the 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM window, and we expect all wireless service will be back up and running normally before 8:00 AM. Wired network service will be unaffected.
