IT Service Outage History

At 7:30AM on Tuesday, December 15, software maintenance will be performed on our cable TV system that is expected to resolve the majority (if not all) of the channel dropping issues that we have been experiencing this fall.  After the maintenance is performed, the system will go down for approximately five minutes.  A few TVs may need to rescan channels, but the majority of TVs will not.

Card System Upgrade to Affect Laundry and Vending Machines on Dec 8 from 8am-11pm

An upgrade to the OneCard card system will affect some card services on December 8, from 8:00am to 11:00pm. Although door access, Valenting Dining Hall, and Schwemm's Coffee House will continue to process transactions with the card, laundry and vending machines will only accept cash during the upgrade window.

Brief wireless outage

Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM we will be upgrading our campus wireless controllers.  This will result in a rolling interruption of wireless service in different parts of the campus as the various components restart.  Any individual user will likely see an outage of 10-15 minutes at some point during the 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM window, and we expect all wireless service will be back up and running normally before 8:00 AM.   Wired network service will be unaffected.

Required maintenance will be performed on the cable TV system on Tuesday, October 20, from 8:00AM to 9:00AM.  The channel lineup will not be available during this maintenance.

Cable TV planned outage

The cable TV system will be re-booted by our service provider in an attempt to restore three channels that have been off-line since Monday.  The outage is expected to last about 10 minutes.

Google Services Unavailable for Many Wireless Users

Google services such as and YouTube are unavailable to many--but not all--wireless network users on campus. There is nothing wrong with your device. We are working on the problem and hope to have it resolved soon.

This was a problem with Google and it was resolved over the weekend.

Wireless Systems Upgrade to Affect Connectivity on Monday 7am-7:30am

A wireless systems upgrade will affect wireless network connectivity from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM. We expect all wireless services to be restored no later than 7:45 AM. Wired network service will be unaffected.

Resolved: August 26 Sporadic Phone Outages

UPDATE:  We believe all phone service has been restored as of about 8:30AM.  Some central electronics equipment was scrambled, perhaps from the storms that passed through the area last night.

We have received a few reports of dead phones on campus this morning.  We know that some phones are working while others are not. We are working to determine the cause and apologize for the inconvenience.

August 20 Scheduled Phone System Outage

There will be a scheduled phone system outage between 7:00PM and 8:00PM on Thursday, August 20.  The outage is necessary to replace a system processor and memory that are believed to be faulty, and responsible for the brief system instability we experienced last month.  

If you are a user of the call forwarding feature:  at the conclusion of the maintenance, or Friday morning, please check the call forwarding on your phone and confirm that it is set appropriately.

If you ever need to report an emergency and 2111 is unavailable, please hang up and dial 911.
