Internet Connectivity at Frost Library

Update 12:53PM: Frost library has confirmed their network service is restored.

Internet connectivity at Frost is currently unavailable due to a malfunciton with a Cisco network device. The device routes network connectivity to the entire building. A service representative from Cisco will be on site to service the device within 4 hours. In the meantime, the following services are unavailable at Frost: WiFi connectivity, Internet access, and network services from Amherst College (email, shares, and websites among others).

Scheduled Maintenance: Public Printing

Update 12:10pm: The maintenance window has been expanded until Tuesday, June 23, 4:30pm. Please contact us at x2526 if you have any questions or concerns.

A scheduled maintenance to the public printing system will take place on Monday, June 22, from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Printers at the following locations will be unavailable during the maintenance window:

  • Biology Lab
  • Campus Center Atrium and Room 103
  • Career Center
  • Econ Lab 
  • Frost Library
  • Music Lab
  • Physics Lab 215, 200, 208, 217, and 411
  • Q Center
  • Science Library
  • Smudd Lab
  • Webster 102 Lab
  • Writing Center

Unexpected Maintenance to Affect Select Technology Services Tonight

Several key computer systems will undergo critical software updates tonight, starting at 7:00pm, to address a security issue Microsoft has identified. If you are working in campus computer laboratories or using web-based systems Amherst College provides, please save your work frequently.

Services such as email, the CMS (Amherst College public websites), and Moodle will not be affected. Systems that provide services for Room Draw will be updated later in the evening, after Room Draw is complete.

March 25 Voicemail System Scheduled Maintenance

THIS MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FROM TUESDAY, MARCH 24 TO WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25.

On Wednesday, March 25, minor maintenance will be performed on the voicemail system between 5:00 and 6:00PM.  During this hour there may be brief and intermittent periods when subscribers will be unable to access their voice messages, but telephones wil continue to function normally and callers will be able to record voice messages.

Events Calendar Down; Other Calendars Blank

An ongoing outage is affecting services offered by Amherst College Information Technology. We are working on the problem and appreciate your patience.

The main website events calendar is down, and all other calendars on the website are missing their events. Web Services is working the problem.

Web services fixed the problem on the back end.

March 18 voicemail system maintenance COMPLETED

On Wednesday, March 18, voicemail system software will be upgraded beginning at 5:30PM and lasting approximately six hours.  Subscribers will be unable to access voice messages during the upgrade, but telephones will continue to function normally and callers will be able to record voice messages.  If you feel that you need to inform your callers of this blackout period, you can easily record an out-of-office greeting by selecting option 4 followed by option 6 from the Main Subscriber Menu prior to 5:30PM on March 18.

HD cable TV issues

8:30PM: The issue has been resolved and we will continue to monitor HD channels over the weekend.

3:48PM: An unexpected problem with nearly all of our HD channels began a short time ago.  Channels are intermittently freezing and reporting communication problems with the dish. Our vendor will be dispatching a technician, and they are hopeful that the problem can be resolved before the Super Bowl.  The Super Bowl will be broadcast in HD on our Channel 63.2 and in SD on our Channel 4.  We appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
