Steps you may need to take after you've changed your Amherst password.
OF CRITICAL IMPORTANCE: Update all of your mobile devices that you use for Amherst email - smart phones, iPads, tablets, personal laptops, e-readers, etc.
Once you've changed your Amherst password, make sure to immediately update it in the email account settings of any mobile devices you use set up to access Amherst email (other than through Outlook Web App/OWA/Web Mail) have such as Apple "i" devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad), Android, personally-owned Blackberry, personal tablet or laptop computers, e-readers, etc. Failure to update your password immediately could result in your being locked out of your Amherst account. Devices will try continually to log on with your old password, and our security systems will lock your account after 20 unsuccessful logon attempts.

Steps For Everyone
If you saved your old Amherst password in other applications or devices, you will need to change it there so it matches your new password. Some examples are:
- The email client on your computer such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or Mac Mail
- Your Amherst VPN client if you opted to have it remember your password.
- Your web browser, if you stored your password for Amherst Web Mail.
- Your saved connections to network storage such as Userfiles, WinSoft, MacSoft, Scratch, Storage, etc.
In most cases where you've had an application "remember" your Amherst password, the application will fail to authenticate the first time you use it after changing your password on the website. You'll then be given the opportunity to enter and save your new Amherst password.
