The Amherst College endowment, valued at $2.19 billion as of June 30, 2015, is intended to provide perpetual support to the College in service of its mission – educating men and women of exceptional potential from all backgrounds, whatever their financial need, so that they may seek, value and advance knowledge and lead lives of principled consequence. This support includes enabling expanded access, subsidizing tuition for every student, paying for the best teachers and facilities, creating knowledge and supporting basic operations.
Led by Chief Investment Officer Mauricia Geissler and operating under the guidance of Amherst’s Investment Committee, the Amherst College Investment Office is responsible for the management and oversight of the College’s endowment. Investment Office staff also participate in the oversight of the College’s defined contribution / 403b plan.
