Individuals who have recently experienced a sexual assault should consider having a medical exam to check for injury and to collect evidence. These examinations are known as SANE exams (Sexual Assault Nurse Examinations). They are conducted at area medical facilities by specially trained nurses. You can learn about SANE in Massachusetts here.
The Center for Women and Community has advocates that support you in deciding whether to obtain a SANE exam and who can accompany you to the hospital for the exam. You can learn more about this service here.
