Family to Family Calling Program
Parents and families of Amherst students, especially those new to the college, often share the same questions, concerns, and excitement. Every year, parents of current Amherst students make phone calls to families of incoming first-year students in their region, to welcome them to Amherst and to answer the kind of questions most parents share. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share your Amherst experiences – from how to arrange transportation from the airport, to how to prepare for Massachusetts winters, to how stay connected to your student during their first year.
The Office of Alumni and Parent Programs, in partnership with regional Amherst Alumni Associations, hosts a variety of events across the United States and the world throughout the year. Parents and families volunteer to host events and are invited to come meet alumni and families in their region. Especially popular among Amherst families are our regional “Summer Send-Offs,” which new families and their incoming students to the Amherst community. More »
New Student Orientation and Family Weekend both feature parent and family receptions, which offer an opportunity to meet other families and share experiences in an informal, family-friendly atmosphere.

We welcome parents as speakers at on-campus events such as Family Weekend and Homecoming, and invite you to contribute to Amherst’s community blog, Well-Mixed.
