Academic Reading in Virtual Reality

At some point around 2015 I became interested in the possibilities of using Virtual Reality (VR) for academic work.  With the support of the Amherst College IT department, I have developed an application for reading and annotating PDF documents in VR.  The application is called Virtual Reality Reading Room, and it runs on Windows (10) using the Windows Mixed Reality and SteamVR plugins.  It is compatible with WMR and Vive headsets and with the Oculus Rift.

A short video describing the work can be found here. This video was produced in 2017, when the application ran only on the Oculus Rift.

Here is a demonstration video of a more recent version of the application, recorded in May 2019.
