Sidney Dillingham Pinney '45

Sid Pinney died on January 3, 2007, in Bloomfield, CT.  He was eighty-two.  Born in Hartford, CT, he attended the Loomis School and entered Amherst in the fall of 1941, where he competed in soccer and swimming.  As with many of his classmates, his college years were interrupted by service in World War II.  Sid served as an officer in the US Army Air Corps.  He returned to Amherst and graduated in 1947, followed by a law degree at Harvard Law School.  Over the course of his professional career, Sid was a senior partner
