Donald S. Pitkin, who introduced anthropology to the Amherst curriculum, died on May 11 at his home in Amherst. He was 90.

Donald S. Pitkin Prize The Donald S. Pitkin Prize in Anthropology-Sociology, established in honor of the founder of the department on the occasion of his retirement, is given to that student whose honors thesis best exemplifies the humane values to which Professor Pitkin committed his research and teaching.
