Three Alumni Join Board of Trustees

The three newest members of the Amherst Board of Trustees are Rafael Campo ’87, Ted Beneski ’78 and Arthur Koenig ’66. The alumni body elected Campo; Beneski and Koenig were appointed by the board.

Arthur Koenig ’66 graduated from Amherst cum laude in political science and is involved in various philanthropic activities focused on education.

He supports the Koenig Scholars program at Amherst, which brings students from Africa and Latin America to the college, as well as fellowships at Human Rights Watch, with the goal of training fellows for senior research/advocacy  positions at HRW and similar organizations. He also supports Educate!, an educational and mentoring program in Uganda, and ARTLINK, a community action and education program in Baltimore.

AMHERST, Mass. — In his annual address at Amherst College’s 190th Commencement Exercises this morning, President Anthony W. Marx reminded the school’s graduates of the investment of “hope and effort” that their alma mater has made in them, and charged the new alumni to apply their intellectual skills to moral problems and pursue their passions in ways that contribute to the greater good.
