Arthur Koenig '66


Arthur Koenig ’66 was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2012. He graduated from Amherst cum laude in political science and is involved in various philanthropic activities focused on education.

He supports the Koenig Scholars program at Amherst, which brings students from Africa and Latin America to the college. He is a trustee of the New York Public Library and a member of the executive committee. His focus is on development of the educational programs in the branch libraries. He also supports Educate!, an educational and mentoring program in Uganda, and ARTLINK, a community action and education program in Baltimore.

Medal for Eminent Service

The 2011 Medal for Eminent Service will be presented to Arthur W. Koenig, founder of the Koenig Scholarship Fund. Pledged to the college in 2007, the fund allows Amherst to recruit and educate five high-achieving students each year from low-income families in Africa and Latin America.
