Tara Neelakantappa Safronoff lives in a brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn, in a neighborhood lined with trees and double strollers. She and her husband have two children, Caroline, 5, and Liam, 4, who share their mother’s dark hair and warm smile. An English teacher at a private school for girls, where her husband teaches P.E., she takes great pleasure in her career and her family. Life is full; she is happy—but it’s not at all the life she expected to be living.
