Orgasm Inc. Filmmaker Liz Canner to Show her Film and Speak at Amherst College March 1

On Tuesday, March 1, at 7 p.m., Amherst College’s Keefe Campus Center Theater will present the documentary Orgasm Inc.: The Strange Science of Female Pleasure and a discussion with the film’s producer, Liz Canner, immediately after the showing.

AMHERST, Mass. – The line-up for the fall semester’s Jazz@Schwemm’s performance series has been posted. Performances given by students and local professionals will fall on four consecutive Thursday evenings beginning on Oct. 7 at 9 p.m. at the Schwemm’s Backroom Coffeehouse, which is located in the Keefe Campus Center on the Amherst College campus.

Author Lizzie Simon to Discuss Bipolar Disorder at Amherst College April 1

AMHERST, Mass.—Lizzie Simon, speaker and author of the book Detour: My Bipolar Trip in 4-D, will discuss her own experiences with mental illness (specifically bipolar disorder), its stigma and wellness at 7:30 p.m. in the Friedmann Room of Amherst College’s Keefe Campus Center on Wednesday, April 1.

AMHERST, Mass.—On Friday, December 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Keefe Center on the Amherst College campus and 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bangs Senior Center in the town of Amherst, Amherst College visiting artists and undergraduates, high school students from Get Up Get Down and the senior center will host an opening reception for exchange/value, a project of the 2009 Collaborative Art Class at Amherst College led by visiting artists Wendy Ewald and Rick Lowe, known internationally for their collaborative projects with communities.

AMHERST, Mass.—Amherst College’s Jazz@Schwemm’s music series will kick off for the spring semester Tuesday, March 31, at 9 p.m. with a performance by the Yusuf Salim Tribute Project and student combo Telepathic Milk.

Nooks and Crannies: The Post Office

Amherst College Postmaster Donnie Kells has seen the world change through the hundreds of glass mailbox windows in Keefe Campus Center. Bulky computer shipments have all but vanished, mail-order catalogs have been replaced with massive increases in online shopping and nobody seems to order frogs anymore. Between the deliveries of birthday cards, letters from abroad and occasional kayak, Kells gives a brief tour of the other side of mailbox.
