Amherst Sculptor Will Create a New Work in Chile

August 8, 2000Director of Media Relations 413/542-8417 AMHERST, Mass.-DeWitt Godfrey, sculptor and assistant professor of fine arts at Amherst College, has been asked to participate in the II Sculpture Simposium Ciudad Empressarial to be held at the Galería Artespacio in Santiago, Chile from November 20 to December 4, 2000. Godfrey will create a sculpture in iron, to further the symposium's wish to "bring sculpture to public spaces" in Chile.

Kaplan, an associate professor of computer science at Amherst College, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to travel and conduct research on “Adding Experimentation and Analysis to Systems Courses: Memory Management Techniques for Reducing Process Switching Delays” at the Federico Santa Maria Technical University and Adolfo Ibanez University in Valparaiso, Chile from January through June.
