Keys to the Future: “SPOTLIGHT on Minimalism” Sunday, April 5, 7:30PM

Keys to the Future and Le Poisson Rouge present "SPOTLIGHT on Minimalism", an evening of Minimalist solo and duo piano works. Five pianists, including Keys regulars Lisa Moore, Molly Morkoski, Stephen Gosling, Blair McMillen, and Joseph Rubenstein will present six works spanning five decades, including Steve Reich's seminal "Piano Phase" and John Adams' "Hallelujah Junction".

I’m in a gallery of the Mead Art Museum, examining three sculptures. Each one is a sort of woven basket, oddly shaped and adorned with beads and loops of wire in various bright colors. The small plaque beneath each creation lists the artist’s media as “Wood, reed and data.”

Data? How does one make a sculpture out of data?

Keys to the Future and Mannes College present “SPOTLIGHT on Four Hand Piano”, an evening of contemporary duos and duets.

Six phenomenal pianists, including Keys regulars Stephen Gosling and Blair McMillen, will present contemporary works for four hands, including the U.S. premiere of the duet version of Arvo Pärt’s “Pari Intervallo”, Steve Reich’s seminal “Piano Phase”, and the world premiere of Bruce Stark’s “Four”.
