April 12, 2006 Director of Media Relations 413/542-8417 AMHERST, Mass.—William Taubman, the Bertrand Snell Professor of Political Science at Amherst College, is among the 187 artists, scholars and scientists awarded 2006 fellowships by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.Taubman will use this award to support the research he is undertaking for a biography of Mikhail S. Gorbachev, which will be the first full scholarly biography utilizing the wealth of new information that has become available since 1991.
