AMHERST, Mass.—The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded Amherst College’s Mead Art Museum a $500,000 grant, to be used over three years, to strengthen the academic role of the museum’s collections and programs.

The program, which will begin during the January Interterm period in 2004, will bring panels of alumni and faculty together to speak to students about the best ways to connect their Amherst educations to post-graduate study and career choices.

Mellon Foundation Awards Humanities and Social Science Grant to Amherst College

Mellon Foundation of New York has awarded Amherst College a matching grant of $1.5 million to create an endowment to bring young scholars to campus as postdoctoral fellows in the humanities and social sciences. Under the terms of the Mellon grant, Amherst will have three years to raise an additional $1.5 million from individual donors.
