Three Alumni Join Board of Trustees

The three newest members of the Amherst Board of Trustees are Rafael Campo ’87, Ted Beneski ’78 and Arthur Koenig ’66. The alumni body elected Campo; Beneski and Koenig were appointed by the board.

Dr. Rafael Campo was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2012. He is an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). He graduated from Amherst magna cum laude in both neuroscience and English and received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He directs the Office of Multicultural Affairs at BIDMC and was the inaugural faculty director of the Katherine Swan Ginsburg Humanism in Medicine Program in the BIDMC Internal Medicine Residency Program. He also serves on the faculty of the creative writing M.F.A. program at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. He has also held appointments as Fanny Hurst Visiting Writer at Brandeis University and as scholar-in-residence at the Stanford Institute for the Creative Arts.
