Responding to an Active Shooter

Secure Immediate Area
  • Lock and barricade doors
  • Turn off lights
  • Close blinds
  • Block windows
  • Turn off radios and computer monitors
  • Keep occupants calm, quiet, and out of sight
  • Keep yourself out of sight and take adequate cover/protection i.e., behind concrete walls, thick desks, filing cabinets (cover may protect you from bullets).

A personal cell phone or mobile device may be the best way to reach you during an emergency, especially if you are moving about the campus or are enroute to or from the campus.  Contact information that you submit will greatly improve our ability to communicate with you and keep you safe during an emergency.
