Dallas Morning News: Survey says 25% of young Hispanics identify themselves as American first

Professor Ilan Stavans was consulted about a new Pew Center poll that found that 25 percent of young people in the United States consider themselves Hispanic first and American second. “The way we come together is changing,” the Mexico City native told the Texas newspaper. “We can now become Americans by stressing where we come from. But 40 years ago, we needed to forget where we came from to be Americans.”
