Work History

I've been at Amherst since 2001. The two years prior I worked as a computer support contractor and as a freelance technology writer and editor. The seventeen years prior to that I worked as an editor for various technology publications: inCider and AmigaWorld (IDG Communications), BYTE (McGraw-Hill), and FamilyPC (Ziff-Davis/Disney).

I've written hundreds of technology articles for many different publications on subjects ranging from 'branch-prediction algorithms in microprocessors' to 'what's the best ink-jet printer.' I've written one book, the AmigaDOS 2 Companion.

I earned a degree at Clark University a long time ago. I also have a certificate attesting to my prowess with programming languages that haven't been in common use since the last millenium.

Personal

I grew up in central Mass. and spent about a dozen years in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, where I wed my lovely wife Rose and where she gave birth to our equally lovely daughter Hannah Rose.

We live in Hadley with dog Belle and cat Lizzie. In case the photo above isn't enough of a clue I enjoy cycling when the weather is warm, reading (primarily history and historical fiction) just about anytime, and the Red Sox all the time.
