Digital Initatives & Web Services adheres to national and international community-based standards and best practices in all its work, and with our Technical Services department leading the effort, has documented our own best practices for metadata creation. The following list documents our overall operations:
Amherst College Digital Collections (ACDC) is built on Archipelago Commons, an open source repository created by METRO. Archipelago Commons supports a variety of linked open data vocabularies, and also supports viewers that use the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF). ACDC is harvested by Digital Commonwealth, a Massachusetts-wide index of digital collections from cultural heritage institutions across the Commonwealth, which in turn feeds into the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).
