Students from the museum’s volunteer docent group will offer a glimpse into a special project open to all Amherst students: the chance to purchase an original artwork for the Mead’s collection using the Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Fund, established in memory of a former curator of American art. Students will recount opportunities and pitfalls and will present the collection’s first nine works, ranging from a contemporary Iraqi abstraction to images of Classical serenity. The project’s leader, museum director Elizabeth Barker, will shed light on its history and goals.
