The DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps program, based in Greenfield, Mass., partners with area schools and youth-serving agencies to create innovative full-time service opportunities throughout the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. Established in 1996, DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps serves a geographic area that spans from Greenfield to Springfield, from rural to urban settings.

For 10 months each academic year, DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps members support local youth through mentoring, creative activities, experiential learning and positive youth development. Based on site placement, members are trained to either use the conversational skills of "motivational interviewing" to support young people in setting goals or trained in pairs to support students by utilizing and amplifying restorative approaches like creative and calming regulation spaces. Members participate in weekly personal & professional development training where they gain transferable skills. While the members are supporting the youth in the community, DIAL/SELF coordinators and site supervisors are supporting members through their service term. DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps members are compensated for their full-time service with up to $23,495.

DIAL/SELF’s next application deadline is February 15. Stop by this information table to speak with Lani Ortiz, Community Coordinator with the DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps program, to learn more about this application process and whether this or other AmeriCorps programs might be a good fit for you!
