The Amherst College Department of Music presents Connection Concert with Charlotte Malin and Sophie Lippert in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College. The concert is FREE and open to the public; seating is by general admission.

Charlotte Malin is a charismatic and versatile musician with a unique range spanning classical violin and viola, intimate and ethereal songwriting, and improvised live-looping. She performs internationally, including in a string quartet with violinist Midori, and currently serves as the viola instructor at Amherst College. Pianist Sophie Lippert, founder of Connections Concert Series, has appeared as soloist with the Seattle Philharmonic and Olympia Symphony, at TEDxPortland and the Portland Art Museum, and in on-air performances at All Classical Portland.

In Connection Concert, Malin and Lippert join forces to amplify the elements of presence and connection between audience and performers. Using tools such as dynamic multi-genre programming, facilitated conversation, brief guided meditation, and passion-infused performance and curation, the performers emphasize a feeling of collaboration and community in the concert experience to help meet our society's growing need for connection. The recital features works by underrepresented female composers, multi-genre arrangements and compositions, live-looping improvisation, and reimaginations of pieces from the standard classical repertoire.
