International Interactions

International Interactions is a collaborative series between the CISE and the Center for Counseling and Mental Health that provides a space for international students to familiarize themselves with the mental health resources on campus. The series aims to help students feel safe and comfortable when engaging with topics of mental health and international experiences like homesickness, language barriers, and relationship navigation in American context. The series is held on a weekly basis by a student staff member and a member of the counseling staff, usually the bilingual counselor on campus.

Racialization of International Students

Racialization of International Students is an event held each semester in collaboration with the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC). This event offers students a space to process their experience being racialized in the American context, since many international students come from spaces where they were not in the oppressed minority. Previously, the event had been held in various locations in Keefe Campus Center; however for the virtual semester it was held online through social media platforms (Zoom, Instagram Live).

International Education Week

International Education week is an annual event held in collaboration with the Office of Global Education (GEO). IEW aims to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide and is sponsored by the US Department of State and the US Department of Education. The CISE has engaged with IEW in different ways, but always in alignment with our mission and vision. Held in the Fall semester (as IEW is usually mid-November), the event offers a range of programming, with student staff organizing games and activities to engage students with the goals of IEW.

Unapologetically International

Unapologetically International allows international students to share their experiences about living in the US in an open mic format. Singing, dancing, poetry reading, storytelling, ted-talk style performance, photography showcase, stand-up comedy, and instrument performance have all been showcased! Unapologetically International offers a great chance for the community to come together, share food, and celebrate each others' cultures and talents!

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is an annual event held by the CISE in order to celebrate women and their achievements around the world, highlighting women of international experience and their unique contribution to society. IWD is held in collaboration with the Women and Gender Center (WGC) staff, and consists of spotlighting international women on social networks, as well as panel discussions and talks from Professors.
